Another particular teaching approach I appreciated is that Lorette allowed people to sit or stand in the way they felt most comfortable while she taught.  Personally I found this very liberating because I find it most comfortable to sit on the floor (culturally, in Samoa,  this is also very normal).

Also she allowed and encouraged us to follow along as she demonstrated carries or to sit and listen and then do it later.  I jumped at the chance to follow along while she demonstrated because I am a visual/ kinesthetic learner and it really helped me solidify the learning quickly.

In terms of img_6815the content of the course, I found it was really centered on the premise that “The best carrier is the one that fits your needs”. This is a very uplifting statement, because sometimes we can forget this and give advice based on brands rather than look at matching the carrier to the needs of the person wanting to baby carry.

Lorette speaks to the point and yet balances this with kindness and consideration.   Being forth right and asking people to share in a large group can seem quite intense to our Kiwi sensitivities, however I believe it is very freeing as well.  Sometimes we can over analyse intentions, but her openness made it clear that what she said was what she thought.  And this is a good thing, thank you Lorette!
